Experimental Idea
July 25, 2020I’ve been thinking about how I can be a bit more experimental with my work this semester without getting too abstract, and I think I might try doing some collage, or even just simple ripping up of printed out images I have left over from last semester’s mockup book.
I did a little bit of accidental research on this yesterday when I was looking for inspiration for a different project, but found that I quite liked Rhed Fawell’s collage series. What drew me to them initially was the inclusion of the red thread, which is a recurring theme in my own work. I like the way that texture and colour are dispersed in these works, but I worry that this type of work would not sit well within my existing body of images, as they are so different and much more art based. They might stick out and not be cohesive. So I think I will try experimenting with less abstraction and a little more simplicity regarding the collage technique.
