Something Like A Nest
May 28, 2020I love this photographic series by Andy Sewell. It captures the small and banal moments of everyday life, but it is done in a way that does not seem ‘snapshot’-esque. Each image seems very carefully considered in terms of composition and framing, yet they seem effortless at the same time. Particularly in the landscape images, I like the simplicity, use of space, and pop of colour to add interest to the frame.
The series is also broken up into seasons, and this is denoted by shots of the view out of a kitchen window (they are all different kitchens.) I thought this was a great way to break up the work, as well as to draw attention to the passing of time without being too explicit.
